This article examines the concept of semantic valency, its nature, and its differences from syntactic valency. The study is based on the theories of Yu. D. Apresyan, Ch. Fillmore, and R. Rasulov, analyzing the semantic valency of verbs and nouns and their manifestation in English, Russian, and Uzbek. The article explores thematic roles such as agent, patient, and instrument, highlighting their function in word combinations and discussing the significance of semantic valency in contemporary linguistic research. Additionally, the paper emphasizes the role of semantic valency theory in artificial intelligence, natural language processing (NLP), machine translation, and the development of semantic databases such as FrameNet. The study highlights the insufficient research on semantic valency in Uzbek linguistics, particularly regarding nouns and other word classes. Furthermore, the research discusses the importance of semantic valency in lexicography, syntactic analysis, and automated text processing, focusing on how verbs and their valency potential shape sentence structure. The findings contribute to linguistic modeling, machine translation, NLP advancements, and improving human-computer interaction efficiency.
