In the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Named Entity Recognition (NER) is one of the important and complex areas of linguistics and computer science. NER generally refers to the process of identifying and tagging proper names, location names, organization names, time expressions, and other specific terms in a text. Developing and effectively applying NER systems for a morphologically rich and syntactically free language like Uzbek presents unique challenges. This article discusses the problems, opportunities, and solutions related to NER tagging in the Uzbek language.
