To date, the rapid development of science and technology, the strengthening of interdisciplinary integration, has become a factor in the emergence of interaction in scientific fields, cooperation in solving problems and issues. The interdependence of social sciences in society, the development of interdisciplinary relations, in particular, the mutual dependence of linguistics and law, the need to study legal materials from a linguistic point of view have led to the formation of a new direction - linguistic expertise. The article provides information on the study of linguistic expertise as a direction of applied linguistics, the theories of scientists about them. Information is provided on the close relationship of linguistic expertise with other forensic expertise.
