In this article, data is provided about pragmatics and its role in global linguistics, the history of its emergence, its subject and object, the tasks studied in this field, the introduction of the term “pragmatics” into scientific discourse, pragmatic analysis, the role of irony in pragmatic analysis, and other related topics. The article is filled with opinions, which are related to pragmalinguistics, of linguists like Ch.Pris, U.Djems, D.Dyun, Ch.Morris, J.R.Ostin, J.R.Serl, Z.Vendler, V.V.Petrov, N.D.Arutyunova, Y.V.Paducheva.
